  Scientific programme  
 
Advanced scientific programme now available
The advanced programme featuring the confirmed session titles and talks is now available online. WCC 2014 scientific programme will cover a broad range of topics in clinical science, basic science, and health promotion/health advocacy. Join us in Melbourne to learn more about prevention and treatment of conditions such as coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and hypertension as well as risk factors that can lead to these conditions.
Some “snapshot” session highlights
Mental health and cardiovascular disease (CVD) including the interrelationships of psychiatric illnesses and CVD, the role of depression and disease, and the effect of gender differences and depression prevalence in patients with coronary artery disease
Heart rhythm disturbances in athletes including atrial fibrillation in athletes, devices in athletes and a debate on whether we can predict the athlete at risk for sudden cardiac death
Making CVD a global political priority including achieving change in high- and low-income countries and what the ultimate price of inaction will be
EBAC CME Accreditation
We are currently in the process of applying for EBAC CME accreditation. We are expecting WCC 2014 to receive a total of 18 hours of External CME credits. Please visit our website in the beginning of 2014 for further updates.
 
 
  Abstract programme: thank you for your submissions  
 
The abstract submission is now closed, and we have been pleased to receive more than 1’600 abstracts from 91 countries. The WCC 2014 Scientific Programme Committee is currently finalizing the abstract selection. All abstract submitters will receive a notification by e-mail in early December 2013, and the outcome will also be available on our website.
Late breaking abstracts
The submission for late breaking abstracts will be open from 6 to 31 January 2014 on www.worldcardiocongress.org. The abstract template and submission instructions will be available online mid-December 2013.
 
 
  4th International Conference on Women, heart disease and stroke  
 
Join us for the 4th International Conference on Women, Heart Disease and Stroke, to be held on Sunday, 4 May 2014 in Melbourne as a WCC 2014 pre-congress session. The goal of this conference jointly organized by the World Heart Federation and the American Heart Association is to extend knowledge and foster action globally about the prevention, identification, and treatment of heart disease and stroke in women. The Heart & Health Foundation of Turkey (www.tksv.org and www.uccvs2014.org) have recently joined the World Heart Federation as a member and they will be present at WCC with a booth in the exhibition hall, as well as co-sponsoring a joint session.
